Submission of Data
The NSF GAGE Facility accepts a variety of data for submission to our archives, including GPS/GNSS and Imaging (SAR and TLS) data.
NSF- and NASA-funded investigors must submit their GPS/GNSS data to the GAGE Data Center immediately after campaign completion or permanent station installation. After submission and archiving data are generally immediately publicly-accessible. Consult the GAGE Data Policy for data submission requirements and data release policy.
GPS/GNSS data archiving process uses teqc to extract pertinent metadata from the submitted data files. Therefore, all GPS/GNSS data that is submitted must be a format readable by teqc to be individually cataloged with its metadata.
Campaign raw or RINEX data and metadata
- You may have already submitted a request for project support if you required GAGE equipment or Field Engineer support for this project. If not, Request Support for data archiving. Be sure to check the box labeled "GPS/GNSS raw/RINEX".
- Prepare and submit site descriptions, logsheets and other metadata along with the data. You may wish to use GAGE-developed forms to document your field work.
- Raw data is the primary format to be archived. In some cases, raw data files are not available, i.e. they were translated into RINEX and the original raw data were discarded. For the latter case, send data in RINEX format. If the raw data required exceptional efforts to translate into RINEX, then you may wish for this RINEX to be preserved as well. In this case, send both the raw data and RINEX.
- Submit raw data (and/or RINEX). Please coordinate all submissions with data managmement and archiving staff by emailing data-help@earthscope.org.
Permanent Station raw or RINEX data and metadata
- You may have already submitted a request for project support if you required GAGE equipment or Field Engineer support for this project. If not, Request Support for data archiving. Be sure to check the box labeled "GPS/GNSS raw/RINEX".
- Select a 4-character ID for each new site that is installed, but make sure each new ID is not in use elsewhere by checking, for example, with our Data Archive Interface or at SOPAC.
- Submit a new permanent station form for each new permanent station. Type the 4-character ID in the "4 CH ID" box and then fill out the form and click "Submit". The information you supply will be used to populate the RINEX header and IGS log so be 100% certain that it is correct!
- Email data-help@earthscope.org to coordinate the final details (e.g. identified data flow, data format, file naming issues, and so on). Data flow for permanent stations can be any of the following:
- FTP dropoff
- FTP pickup
- LDM
- secure shell scp pickup
Email data-help@earthscope.org for all questions regarding TLS data archiving.
Thanks, and we look forward to working with you!
