Summary:
Dozens of boulders lie on the permanently frozen surface of Lake Hoare. They provide a unique opportunity to study the dynamics of the lake ice. Bolts have been installed on 14 boulders scattered about the lake surface and these marks are surveyed annually. Two ablation stakes were also surveyed to measure lake ice displacement and translation. GAGE provided field support with Trimble receivers, as well as Trimble Geomatics Office post processing and data archiving services. Dr Doran also requested that the moat around Lake Bonney be surveyed. Thomas Nylen and Chuck Kurnik mounted an antenna to a six-wheeler and performed a continuous kinematic survey. |
